From the recording Say Hello
Lyrics
Are You With Me
Scrawled on a syllabus in English lit
Let's meet at my house after school
Paper egos hammered out tunes
Like Amadeus playing pool
We were the only ones that we could turn to
We were the only ones that we could trust
Trying to step out on the ground we found together
Dreams that were waking us
Swapping stanzas of juvenile prose
Barely good but better known
Small town poets clutching Wordsworth and Keats
Cheap guitars and microphones
We were the only ones that we could turn to
We were the only ones that we could trust
Nothing could shake the ground we held as brothers
Days that were shaping us
We’ll find our voice
We’ll make some noise
Are you with me?
We were the only ones that we could turn to
We were the only ones that we could trust
Who would’ve known we were learning to be fathers?
Men being made of us
Men being made of us
